the world we live in
didn’t realize people were this shallow, but i’ve heard enough. wrote this out of anger.
you give a homeless man money and people either think you’re noble or stupid. either way you’re doing a good thing but the world we live in has you secluded. it’s not about the recognition or the attention or the fame, it’s about being selfless enough to be able to feel their pain. and it’s like the world has forgotten what it’s like to not have enough, everyone’s so busy acting tough as if they don’t have the privilege of never having it rough. and the world has the audacity to tell you you’re dumb for giving pocket change to open palms. they tell you that the homeless put themselves in that position, like it’s a competition. this isn’t a competition. you’re not competing against a barefoot man while your plant costs $30 a gram. the privilege want to talk about drug addiction like they’re not already addicted to their pens. “they’re gonna spend that change on drugs” like you’re not worried about their own goddamn bud. when did we become this shallow.
